Between Kühnhaide and Pobershau, the Pockau meanders through the untouched valley. In the midst of spruce and fir trees, rugged rocks tower up to majestic monuments, and huge moss lichens cover the round-washed stone blocks in the dark water. One could actually think one was in the Swiss Alps. The Black Water Valley is the home of Kaffee-Kurt. The man sells coffee, biscuits and homemade cakes at his lovingly decorated stand and has enjoyed cult status in the region for a long time. The Black Water Valley is truly a predestined destination for extensive hikes and opulent picnics in the open countryside.

44 km east of Annaberg-Buchholz lies this pretty village, which is only a few kilometres away from the Czech border. The pretty mountain church is a popular photo motif and landmark of Seiffen. It is also popular for wedding celebrations abroad. From Seiffen there are several excellent hiking trails through the wild nature. Rustic forest inns and authentic inns spoil the visitors with hearty, regional specialities.

The Erzgebirge is a low mountain range in Saxony. The Fichtelberg in the Erzgebirge is with 1.214 meters the highest mountain of the country. The nature park "Erzgebirge/Vogtland" belongs with 1495 km² and 290.000 inhabitants to the most densely populated mountains in Europe. The extremely picturesque landscapes of the Erzgebirge hold some very special treasures of nature for the visitor. Two particularly beautiful destinations are the valley of the Black Pockau, also known as the Black Water Valley, and the village of Seiffen.
