Brandenburg
With over 3,000 lakes and 33,000 km of waterways, Brandenburg is the German state with the most water - a paradise for nature lovers. The biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin and the Spreewald are two of the most famous regions with extraordinary nature. Along the rivers Elbe and Oder, many regions have now been transformed into biotopes, which are preserved as naturally as possible. In the lower Oder valley you can observe some of the most endangered birds in Europe - for example white storks often breed here on the roofs of the surrounding villages. In Brandenburg you can find otters, beavers, wolves and sea eagles among many other animals.
