Lower Saxony
Sea, moors, heath and mountains - Lower Saxony stretches from the North Sea to the Harz Mountains and has a very diverse natural landscape. The Lüneburg Heath and other geest landscapes in the northwest of Lower Saxony offer a great play of colours during the heyday. The many moors in the Emsland and in the Diepholz moorland lowlands are visited twice a year by cranes in transit - many more migratory birds, seals and harbour porpoises can be observed in the Wadden Sea with a little luck. The lynx has been repopulating the more remote corners of the Harz Mountains for several years now.
